With the explosion of the need for User Experience (UX) professionals the last decade, there has been a parallel need for university level courses in UX subjects. There has been an increasing number of classes offered in general usability, usability testing, information architecture, content strategy, prototyping, and interaction design. Since traditional academics in this field often focus on research and human factors with limited practical application, there has been a real need to hire practitioners in the field to teach these subjects.
How will this shape the future of the UX profession in the next few years, the next decade, or over many decades? We need to have this discussion in our profession as we have ignored it until now. The future of our profession's growth depends upon this!
